Professional Development
During our professional development slideshow with our group and picking four, of those four I personally would chose ATOMIM (Association of Teachers Of Maine of Mathematics In Maine). I would chose this because though it is for mathematics, it covers a range of grades and helpful insight into the Maine mathematics, and resources. This site is perfect for educators because it's free and free is always inviting to those who have to use their own money for their classroom. Though this is free I wouldn't recommend students getting it as it is viewed more of an educators resource site than a student. You get insights on PD and conferences here in Maine. This site is super easy to use as a teacher, or really anyone. There are tabs with math resources, and links to different math chapters to where teachers have the most difficulty teaching depending on the grade. I think this would benefitable to me and could see myself using this as I feel like every teacher has a slightly different method to teaching a specific way in math and using this resource would be helpful to guide me. At the bottom of the Math Resources page they provide links to both the CCSS and the MDEM.
With a technology professional development I would pick to join International Society for Technology in Education. The basic cost $75 what that would get you would be ISTE Standards ebook, Topic-focused weekly webinars, Topic-focused starter guides, Access to ISTE Connect, ISTE's online professional learning network, Select ISTE conference videos, Exclusive member-only newsletters, Free ISTE ebook, 25% off all ISTE books, Access to ISTE U course on ensuring equity in online learning, Member discounts on professional learning courses, Member pricing for ISTELive, Career services, Leadership opportunities. With the Premium it would $295. With that premium package and membership it would get you the following; ISTE Standards ebook, Topic-focused weekly webinars, Topic-focused starter guides, Access to ISTE Connect, ISTE's online professional learning network, Early access to select ISTE conference videos, Exclusive member-only newsletters, Free ISTE ebook, 25% off all ISTE books, Member discounts on professional learning courses, Member pricing for ISTELive, Career services, Leadership opportunities, Digital subscription to ISTE's two peer-reviewed journals, Unlimited ISTE Job Board postings, Access to ISTE U courses on ensuring equity in online learning and teaching digital citizenship, Early access to book your hotel for ISTELive. I would chose this development and program because of everything it offers I definitely think it would be worth the money for what it provides.
